Armor of God part 2
We are going to start with Ephesians 6 verse 10 and go from there. Here we go. Father God I pray right now that when we read this and believe your word that your word will come alive in us. That it will grow and explode inside of us. Thank-you for this Our Might Father amen. So Eph. 6:10 says Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Let's start here with FINALLY. Paul isn't stating that it's about time that I get to this because I have to go. He is actually stating that if you haven't heard anything else that I have told you YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THIS! He was telling the church of Ephesus you need to know this and remember it. Now let's go to verse 11
11. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. You could translate it this way also. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the devil who is lying and waiting to deceive you.
Like I said before the #1 way the devil is going to attack you is through your mind. People say that he comes from all angles and directions which isn't always so. If you get sick, it start with the mind. Don't we have to accept it first.
Verse 13: Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day. And having done all, to stand. Other words for stand is establish, continue, hold up. He's telling the that they need to establish, continue and hold up on those things that the devil is attacking. By using the armor of God. Don't let the devil persuade you off the word of God. But just continue believing in His word.
Verse 13 states that we need to put on the whole armor of God. So what's the whole armor?
1. Loins girt about with truth
2. Breast plate of righteousness
3. Shoes Preparation of the gospel of peace. The gospel is the good news
4. Shield of faith
5. Helmet of Salvation
6. Sword of the Spirit
So is this it. Most people would say Yep this is it, this is all the armor of God. It isn't though. There's one more important peace. It's the spear. Each Roman soldier had a spear to throw at the enemy before they got close to them. So let's look at verse 18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto will all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
This means the spear is thrown ahead of you when you pray. You can defeat the devil even before he gets there. So let me ask you. If your getting slammed by the devil left and right. How's your prayer life. One of the most key issues of getting someone saved is by prayer. You can damage and hurt your adversaries before you even get close to him. Isn't that cool. That's why prayer should be an important part in your life. Well that's for today. I'll get more into all the armor of God either later this week or the beginning of next week. Everyone be blessed.
